PRIVACY NOTICE

This privacy notice is related to the data which are collected with the FutureU smartphone application. If you have any questions or concerns about this privacy notice or our practices with regards to your personal information, please contact us at project-futureu@fsw.leidenuniv.nl.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DOES
THE SMARTPHONE APPLICATION COLLECT?
Data collected with the smartphone application:
· At what time the user starts using the app;
· At what time the user stops using the app;
· At what time the user starts making connection with the Future Self;
· At what time the user stops making connection with the Future Self;
· All replies the user provides in the chat function.
The application does not collect any of the following information:
· IP address
· Location
· Name
· Age
To create the future self avatar a picture of the user’s face is temporarily stored and digitally aged on a server. This picture is immediately deleted after creation of the avatar.
2. HOW DO WE USE YOUR
INFORMATION?
We process your information for scientific research purposes only.
3. WILL YOUR INFORMATION
BE SHARED WITH ANYONE?
Data will only be shared for scientific research reasons and only in fully anonymous form.
4. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP
YOUR INFORMATION?
In line with Leiden University guidelines, data is stored for 10 years.
5. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR
INFORMATION SAFE?
Through the use of ‘pseudonymization’, your personal information can never be directly linked to the information that is collected from the application. To ensure this, you have received a 4-digit code from the research team. Only researchers involved in the research project that have signed a confidentiality statement have access to the information that links the code to your personal information (e.g., name, email address).
Data is stored on a password protected and encrypted folder hosted locally by Leiden University and is automatically backed up regularly.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY
RIGHTS?
You can stop your participation in the research at any time. If you decide to discontinue your participation, it will in no way affect you. Information you have provided up to the moment your participation ends may still be used in the study. The protection of your privacy as described above continues to apply. Obviously, when you stop using the application no new data is collected or used. If you decide to discontinue participation in the study, or if you have any questions or complaints, or wish to raise a concern, or have experienced any harm or discomfort due to the study, please contact the researchers at project-futureu@fsw.leidenuniv.nl.
